Kids’ attempts to fit in can be transparent—from the right shoes to the wrong attitude. Some adults never lose that quality, while others make a comfortable outpost on the fringes of their communities. On our attempts and failures, intentional or otherwise, to fit in.

Building in the Kingdom

Our houses are places where many of our deepest values become incarnate in wood and glass and brick and stone.  What does a house faithfully built look like?  What are our limitations?

Keeping House

According to Wendell Berry, home economics is defined as “the ways of human housekeeping, the ways by which the human household is situated within the household of nature.”  From the time we’re children, we act out our instinct for keeping house and as we do, our decisions can affirm or betray what we confess to be our deepest values.
