So this man dies at age 99 this past week. Why was this former German boxing champion noteworthy to us today?

(If you search on the site below & elsewhere, you will find this man’s personal courage even greater than his boxing prowess. This message could easily have been posted under politics, history, or social justice. This man stood up to Hitler, which is courage of the first order, and so the Auschwitz site (and other sites) commend him & mourn his loss.

Note also it was said on another site that his former boxing adversaries (such as Joe Lewis, for instance) became his friends. He even paid for Lewis’s funeral, per one site.

I post this because I thot a brave man should be honored.
