education and unemployment

i always get upset when US governments (state and federal) don’t place a high enough value on education. whenever budget cuts need to be made, it seems like educational funding is one of the first things to go out the window.

well, here are some interesting statistics to consider when thinking about the implications of not putting enough emphasis on good eduction:

Unemployment rates for workers aged 25 and over by education level:

Master’s degree: 1.6%
Bachelor’s degree: 1.8%
Associate degree: 2.3%
Some college, no degree: 2.9%
High school graduate: 3.5%
Some high school: 6.5%
