mrsanniep’s latest blog entry reminded me that i read a great article the other day at http://www.ransomfellowship.org/D_Halloween.html on the surprisingly-not-so-pagan origins of the holiday. check it out and let me know what you think.

Wow! What a great article. I didn’t really know that stuff. Now I’m definitely letting my kids celebrate Halloween! When I have kids.

“A Power Ranger? You call that a costume, Johnny? C’mon, what kind of demons is that going to scare?!”

Hey, thanks for posting that! That really helps me put things in perspective. Whew. I was starting to act like my mother there for a few days ….

Hmm. After reading the entire article, I’m not sure he’s entirely correct in saying that none of our holidays have pagan origins. He just makes that conclusion and provides no supporting evidence regarding Easter and Christmas, etc.

I’m all for being able to do the Halloween thing, but I wasn’t convinced by the article either. I didn’t find much to back up his claims – they just seemed like statements of fact. I hope he’s right, but somehow I feel like he didn’t exorcise the demons here.
