interesting article: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=16611

after our last issue on rest, i find it interesting that business statistics back up the idea that rest is a necessity. europeans who have four to five weeks of vacation time a year are just as productive, if not more so, than their american counterparts who only receive one or two weeks of vacation (if that). employees with more rest time are more creative and have higher corporate morale.

so why do americans feel the need to work so much? is it a corrupt corporate culture wherein employees cannot go on vacations for fear that they might lose their jobs? do americans just like working more? what’s going on here?
