actually, we officially opened today. we’re at our grand opening right now!! i know, i know . . . working on sunday . . . but three rivers has an annual festival downtown where they block off the historic downtown block (where we have our store) and play live blues all day. we couldn’t resist the free publicity!

thank you very much for asking! we’ll give you a more detailed update tomorrow.

first . . .

dan, world fare is a fair trade store kirstin and i started in three rivers. currently, we’re selling products from several fair trade suppliers, like ten thousand villages, serrv, marketplace of india, equal exchange, etc. eventually, we would love to become a supplier/wholesaler ourselves by developing relationships with disadvantaged groups of people and marketing their handcrafts through our own store and other retail operations (like ten thousand villages stores or the serrv catalog)

and now for a more complete grand opening update . . .

even though the day was rather dreary, which significantly lowered the expected number of people, we had an amazing grand opening weekend. so many people expressed excitement about having a store like ours in three rivers, both for the social justice work the store is attempting to accomplish and for the types of products we’re selling. we made nearly $2,000 total on the weekend, which is really, really great for this type of store.

we’re working on building an online store so that the *cino community can check out some of the products we’re selling, too. i’d love to give you a projected launch date for that, but i am unable to at the moment. trust me, though, you’ll know when it’s up.
