Our daughter, Hannah Ray Bliss Bakker, was born six weeks early on Monday, April 18, 2005. She had serious abdominal complications and almost didn’t survive her birth. She was airlifted to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children that day, as soon as it was safe to transport her and she had surgery that night. She has responded well to surgery, and is currently undergoing monitoring and testing in the neonatal intensive care unit at “Sick Kids” where we expect her to stay for the next month or two. Sarah and I have found affordable accomodations near the hospital so we can be with her as much as possible. We just finished moving out of Toronto, as some of you know, and it has been a blessing to be able to fall right back into the community of friends and at church that we just left during this stressful time. I would ask you to pray a prayer of gratitude that Hannah has made it this far, and ask you to pray that she continues to repond well to the excellent treatment she is receiving, and may be able to come home with her parents as soon as possible. While our situation is stressful, it is a joy for us to be able to be near her every day. I feared she was dead as soon as she was born and began praying for her life instantly. So many prayers have been answered already in ways that I had hardly dared to hope for and we really feel the support of our friends and family. What more could we ask, except for more of the same?

Held in his love,

Henry and Sarah Bakker
