I don’t know where else to turn, short of asking total strangers on the street, but does anyone know if the Muppets singing “Kokomo” was on a Muppet tv episode or in one of the Muppet movies? If it was in a movie, which one?

Thanks for your help in advance. The fate of the world rests on your shoulders. Wakka wakka!

It is on the CD “Muppet Beach Party.” I know that. I also know that The Muppet Show ended in the early 80’s and that Kokomo by the Beach Boys came out in the late 80’s. So I would guess it is from a movie. I don’t know which one, though.

Very helpful! My husband claims he saw a “music video” of it, too.

Hmm. The mystery deepens. The plot thickens. The … the … the … um …

It was also on a video release you should be able to pickup at a local video store. There were two different tapes…the green box and the purple box. I am not sure which tape it was on. They are compilations of the “best of” The Muppets. Good luck!!!

Gotto love the Muppets.

It was on an episode. As far as which one, I’m not sure. I’m asking for the muppet video collection from time life for my birthday, so if I get it and you are still interested I’ll get you a copy if we ever do get together for lunch.

I saw that collection on TIMELIFE.COM and it gave descriptions of some (I guess I thought it was all) of the episodes on the DVDs. They sound great, but I didn’t see the Kokomo episode. I loved the Muppets growing up but had no idea how cool they were.

Next time I’m in Sheboogie (or going there), I will let you know and we’ll get together regardless!

Check out Kazaa or Grokster. I saw the Kokomo skit under the title of Muppets Kokomo.

Long as we’re on this Muppet thread — two questions:

Favorite scene from the show? (Mine is the muppet version of “Take a chance on me” by Abba with little yellow birds bouncing manically on telephone wires. Just thinking about it fills me with joy and makes me smile.

Secondly, any reaction to this idea? I submit that the muppet show, though arguably lacking depth, was a joyful and clean, funny and beautiful example of what telvision should aspire to.

Agreed. It is unfortunate that the re-attempt to revive the muppets failed so miserably. People don’t want good clean fun. The want The Batchlorette, The Fifth Wheel and American Idol. I would disagree with the comment about depth, however. The Muppets were geared towards both entertaining children with good clean fun, and entertaing their parents with thoughtful commentary on current events and culture.

Favorite moment has to be the Mana Mana skit. Typical that the freelance artistic sorts, such as the caveman, are shunned by those who appear “cloned” and stay between the lines, such as the two alien creatures.

In response to the original question, the song originally was on the Jim Henson Hour, a pretty great but short-lived show.

I only remember because I watched it religeously for the short time it was on.

Doo doo duh doo doo…MANAMANA
ahem
In response to second (er..third…some number that’s not 1) question:
Favortie moment would be when animal does a rendition of “oo-ee-oo-ah-ah-ting-tang-walla-walla-bing-bang” by hitting small furry creatures on the head like a xylaphone. Is that sick and twisted…or just really funny?

I would definately agree with the statement that the muppet show is quality programming.
