No doubt they do. Better weather, better health, better lifestyle, better quality of life….so where’s the beef? Those from the east who insist on calling that area the center of the universe, should not jam out on opportunities to check it out. It’s a big world out there. You’ll see. You know, you were there.

it is hilarious how we use language. many of us in alberta and bc call ontario-ites ‘easterners.’ but recently, i got almost yelled at by someone who said i don’t get canadian geography.
to ontario, there are others that are easterners. and ontario is the ‘centre.’
i wonder if it’s that fact that has helped shaped the social conciousness of ontario-ites into that ‘centre of the universe’ thing you speak of.
off-hand, are you from the USA? canadians tend to spell centre with ‘re’ instead of ‘er’.
that reminds me of a funny moment at my alma matter – dordt college. one parents day weekend, the college had tried to raise money selling bumper stickers, and they wrote:
dordt college
sioux centre
51250
at the time, as a US guy, the ‘re’ shocked me.
now i am simply in shock by the awesomeness of that zip code. don’t know why, but it’s really stuck with me.

I am from Ontario. Great topic here. I would love to hear from other members of this site on this topic. Do Ontario-folk generally come across as conceited, self-centred and/or arrogant? In my experience I’ve found folks from BC to be much more arrogant than the simple farming folks I’ve met from Alberta. Generalizations aside, I have many great friends from western provinces, with more similarities between us than differences. I choose to celebrate similarities and differences! Who’s with me!?
