Regarding Film Auditions

Ahhhhh! I just landed and audition with an agent, it’s NEXT WEEK, and I’ve never done a film audition. Any film people out there have any gems in their back pocket? Anybody know of great scenes from lesser-known movies that a smaller, subtler actor would act well in? I need two good scenes, and I’m told I’d probably be suited for the male ingenue (sp) kinds of parts, and also the quirky kind of ADHD parts. This is a shot in the dark, but I thought I’d ask anyway. Also, if anyone has advice . . .

Am I wrong to ask this kind of question in this forum? Jasonvb?

Ahhhhh! Does it have to be from a movie? I’m on it.

Interested in Donnie Darko? Is that quirky enough for you?

There are some fantastic scenes (a little short on monologues though) from Shephard’s True West. Sinese’s character, can’t remember his name, has a nice little personal discussion about salvation and toast. Malkovitch has a nice piece arguing with a telephone operator.
I love that movie.
Good Luck!

I bet you could get away with your Daniel MacIvor piece. Why does it have to be from a movie? Show him something new. That could totally be from a movie. Do it. And True West.

Thanks for the input, folks. I did some looking in the directions suggested by all of y’all, and after looking at the pro’s and cons of your recommendations and many other recommendations I’ve gotten, I settled on . . . . .

John Cusack from High Fidelity

Edward Norton from American History X

Once again, I’d like to thank my producer, the fans, and all of the wonderful people down at *cino.
