All the junkies I know would say OK Computer, but I like Kid A because it was so much trippier; it stretches me more. Personally, I think some people are pissed off because Radiohead got so popular after OK Computer, and they became mainstream-artsy (which of course is a Cardinal sin) and so the “purists” don’t like Kid A/Amnesiac, call it overrated and all of that crap. Radiohead never said they were the difinitive band, people just made them into that. Other people got mad because they “deserted their rock and roll roots,” as if evolving as musicians is a bad thing. I’d love to hear the Radiohead authorities debate this.

Somebody has got to tell me what’s wrong with Amnesiac. It’s by far the most overlooked Radiohead album out there, but why?

comming upon radiohead later in life, i find it hard to catch up, but i got addicted to how kid a is such an albulm instead of a cd with some songs that i skip/some that i love. it just all works together. and i like how everything in its right place was used in vanilla sky. witch, is hipo-critical of me isn’t it.

Where’s Hail to the Thief on the list of options? I want to vote for Hail to the Thief.

I agree that it needs to be on the list, but it IS kind of new. :) I really like it. I thought Radiohead was passe, but they’re still coming up with amazing stuff. I would say my favorite is probably still OK Computer, but I think Hail to the Thief is a close second.

this is kinda related…but not.

Has anyone heard of Christopher O’Riley? He re-writes radiohead songs for the piano, or as sonatas (sp?). He has an album entitled “True Love Waits.” right now i’m really enjoying listening to this music. i’m not sure what it is that i like about it, but it’s just so interesting to hear say karma police, on the piano, and not just like some simple knock off, but some serious thought went into this creation.

what i don’t like about this album is it seems that radiohead puts a lot of thought into how their albums fit together as a whole, for me, Kid A fits together really well, and it seems that “True Love Waits” is just songs of most of their albums slapped together. now he may have had more choice, or more thought may have gone into it, i’m not sure.

has anyone else heard of this man? Chris O’Riley, i know that he’s been on NPR in interview form i think, i have not heard it, but have seen a website on NPR that says so. has anyone else heard this album? or have any other comments on it?

(I guess it is technically another radiohead album….thats why i put this post here…)

Hey, yeah! We were just talking about this guy yesterday. I heard an interview with him on NPR last week and, from the clips they played, I thought the arrangements were pretty good. I’m more of a classical piano fan than a radiohead fan, and he really seemed to capture the spirit of the music while still doing some interesting things pianistically.

That’s the first I’ve heard anyone use the word “pianistically” and I just wanted to let you know that I like it. I will try to use it in a sentence today.

Well thanks, Jasonvb! And to pay hommage to your career, I will try to use the word “theatrically” in a sentence in the next 24 hours.

(Maybe something like: “Grant, your descent into bed was not performed very theatrically tonight.” Good?)

I’ll bet you will say it, too. Be sure to let me know how it goes, and his response.

By the way, this guy was playing near us a couple weeks ago and I considered going to hear him. But I didn’t go. Which is not interesting information in the least…just wanted to let you know that I’d heard of him.

I’m done.
