"I think our main thing is to make sure that for anybody who is a fan of ‘American Idol,’ that they don’t feel too uncomfortable and, most importantly, they enjoy the event as an entertainment show."

Words of wisdom from Simon Cowell, the "mean" judge on [i:ebf5db3d28]American Idol[/i:ebf5db3d28], referring to the upcoming charity special on the show. The event intends to raise funds for charities helping children in Africa and the Gulf Coast region destroyed by Hurricane Katrina last year.

Heaven forbid there be a larger goal in life than entertainment …

Hi – I think this is my first post!!

In relation to this subject I recently finished reading Neil Postman’s "Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business" and found it very interesting – it seems that [i:ba9582d954]everything[/i:ba9582d954] has become entertainment.
