9. Because the historians and politicians and religious leaders and media moguls do not deserve our unquestioned submission to their authority.
4. Because one can argue
ad
nauseam
about
the nature of things
without
ever
coming
to a conclusion
that satisfies.
7. Because Wendell Berry said, “Be like the fox,/who makes more tracks than necessary,/some in the wrong direction./Practice resurrection.”*
6. Because it scares you.
3. Because it comforts [you].
1. Because in doing so, you court Truth.
2. Because your mother did (even in her quiet place) as you stretched and pulled at the mystery inside of her.
8. Because what cannot be questioned cannot stand.
5. Because the result is: poetry!, art!, true love!
1. Because it is in the questioning that, [see: Rabbit, Velveteen] we are made Real.
