Vol 12, Num 9 :: 2013.04.26 — 2013.05.09
Blessed are those pouring spirits, for they listen humbly as the drinkers weep.
Blessed are those who mourn, whose pain is so raw and harsh that the soul is whipped centrifugally (as with a cotton candy machine), for they will be comfited.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the mirth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness — or hamburgers and orange juice or anything, really — because when a person is needy, he (or she) can’t place a buffer between himself and the rest of the human family, and this is overall a really good thing.
Blessed are the merciful, for even without saying, “Uncle!” they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for without the aid of a microscope or television, they will see God.
Blessed are the pacemakers, for they record our love in beats per minute.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Note to the persecuted righteous: when you get to the kingdom of heaven, please put a stopper — a book or a brick or whatever — in the door so that the rest of us can get in later. Thanks.
